First of all, you should think about what you will be using the computer for and the price range you are willing to spend. The intended use of the computer largely determines the features to look for when buying a computer. It is definitely worth thinking about whether you need to carry the computer with you constantly or whether it will serve more as a desktop replacement at home. Screen size is also worth considering. In our selection, you will find computers with screens of various sizes.
Everyday home user – If the computer is used for reading news, watching videos and photos, and occasionally using office software, it doesn't need to have particularly powerful specs. A model with an i3 processor and 4GB of RAM is completely sufficient. For this kind of use, an HD (1366×768) display resolution is perfectly adequate. Hard drive size is a matter of personal preference, but nowadays, when most people have plenty of cloud storage and external drives, 128GB of storage is more than enough for the computer to run smoothly — and if the drive were ever to fail unexpectedly, your data would still be safe elsewhere. If you'd like to store more on the computer itself, choose a model with a larger drive. At the time of writing, a good option from our range is, for example, the Lenovo L380 or L480, depending on which screen size you prefer — their affordable price and Lenovo's legendary reliability make for a great companion for a long time to come. We'd also happily recommend a MacBook Air to this type of user.
More demanding home user – If, besides browsing the web and viewing photos, you occasionally use more demanding programs, it's worth looking at i5 or Ryzen 3 machines. It's definitely worth having at least 8GB of RAM. If you use Excel regularly, it's also worth considering a Full HD display. Good options in this category include the HP EliteBook series, the Dell Latitude series and the Lenovo T-series, as well as the MacBook Pro. It really depends on what you're used to and what your budget is.
The stylish computer user – Who among us doesn't like beautiful things. Lenovo and Dell computers are thoroughly reliable companions, but let's be honest, they look quite boring. For such users, the HP Elitebook and Probook series as well as Apple MacBooks have been created. We have several models in our selection, take a look and order from our online store or come and get acquainted in our showroom at Mäealuse 2/1.
The demanding computer user – Does it bother you when you constantly have to wait for your computer and you wish it would get its work done faster? Then you're reading the right section!
If you use resource-intensive programs on a daily basis, your best options are machines with an i7, Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processor. You should aim for at least 16GB of RAM. If you also enjoy gaming from time to time, it's worth looking at machines with a dedicated graphics card — we have several of those in our range, though unfortunately we don't currently carry machines suited to serious gaming. Good models for demanding users include the HP ZBook, Dell Precision, Lenovo P-series, and higher-spec MacBook Pros. The higher-end Lenovo T-series, HP EliteBook and Dell Latitude models also fall into this category.
If you can't decide which computer might be suitable for you or want to try it out before purchasing, feel free to visit our showroom at Mäealuse 2/1, Mustamäe, Tallinn and we will find the right machine for you.
